Many vape devices and hardware products may include a manufacturer's limited warranty.
Warranty length and coverage vary by:
- Brand
- Manufacturer
- Product
- Purchase date
After Vapestics' initial defect-reporting period, qualifying hardware issues may need to be submitted directly to the manufacturer.
Keep:
- Order confirmation
- Original packaging
- Serial number
- Authenticity/security code
- Warranty card where applicable
Warranty Exclusions
Manufacturer or retailer warranty coverage generally does not extend to damage caused by:
- Misuse
- Impact/drop damage
- Water or liquid damage
- Unauthorized modification
- Incorrect battery installation
- Incorrect charging
- Normal wear
- Failure to follow manufacturer instructions
- Improper maintenance
- Using incompatible components
Consumable components generally have limited or no warranty once used.
Battery Safety
Lithium-ion batteries can overheat, ignite or experience thermal runaway if damaged, short-circuited or improperly handled. FDA specifically warns consumers about fires and explosions involving vape batteries.
Always follow the device and battery manufacturer's instructions.
Use the Correct Battery
Use only batteries recommended or specified for your device.
Do not:
- Mix battery brands
- Mix old and new batteries
- Mix batteries with substantially different charge levels
- Use an incompatible battery
FDA specifically advises against mixing battery brands, old/new batteries or batteries with different charge levels.
Inspect Batteries
Do not use a battery that is:
- Swollen
- Dented
- Crushed
- Punctured
- Leaking
- Overheating
- Corroded
- Otherwise visibly damaged
For replaceable cells, damaged protective wraps or insulators should be addressed before further use.
Prevent Short Circuits
Never carry loose replaceable batteries in a pocket, purse or bag with conductive metal objects such as:
- Keys
- Coins
- Tools
- Jewelry
Use an appropriate protective battery case.
Lithium batteries can overheat or ignite after a short circuit or physical damage.
Charging Safety
Charge devices according to manufacturer instructions.
FDA recommends charging on a clean, flat surface away from materials that can easily catch fire.
Do not:
- Use visibly damaged charging equipment
- Charge in extreme heat or cold
- Place a charging device under pillows or bedding
- Use chargers that do not meet manufacturer requirements
Temperature Safety
Do not leave vaping devices or batteries:
- In direct sunlight for prolonged periods
- In extremely hot vehicles
- In freezing conditions
- Near fire
- Near flammable gases or liquids
FDA specifically advises protecting vape batteries from extreme temperatures and keeping them away from flammable gases and liquids.
Device Safety
Read the manufacturer's instructions before using any device.
Do not use a device if it:
- Becomes unusually hot
- Emits smoke
- Shows evidence of battery damage
- Has a damaged charging port
- Activates unexpectedly
- Has suffered major physical damage
Stop using it and contact the manufacturer or appropriate support channel.
Mechanical/Advanced Devices
Advanced devices can require knowledge of:
- Battery ratings
- Resistance
- Coil compatibility
- Electrical limits
Never exceed manufacturer specifications.
E-Liquid and Nicotine Products
Keep e-liquid and nicotine products away from:
- Children
- Pets
- Food
- Areas where accidental ingestion may occur
Follow the manufacturer's package warnings and usage instructions.
Damaged Lithium Batteries and Returns
Do not mail or return a swollen, leaking, burned or otherwise seriously damaged lithium battery without receiving specific instructions.
Damaged/defective lithium batteries can be subject to additional transportation requirements because they present increased fire risk.
